What we liked
- + Two locking XLR inputs with 32-bit float recording suit interviews and location podcasts with pro microphones.
- + Real-time waveform display on the LCD helps check levels, and microSD cards up to 1TB are supported.
- + The kit adds rechargeable AA batteries with a charger, a 10 ft XLR cable and a 64GB card for immediate use.
Trade-offs
- - Priced in a clearly higher band than the Tascam DR-07XP it replaces, so it suits serious field work, not casual use.
- - Two inputs only, and it has no built-in stereo microphones, so you must bring your own mics.
