What we liked
- + Arrives as a complete vocal kit: SM6 shock mount with pop filter, XLR cable and dust cover are all in the box.
- + The listing describes it as among the lowest self-noise microphones made, which suits quiet spoken-word recording.
- + A tight cardioid pattern focuses on the voice in front of the mic and rejects sound from the rest of the room.
Trade-offs
- - It is an XLR condenser, so it needs an audio interface or mixer, which is not included.
- - No pad or low-cut switch is mentioned in the listing, so level and rumble control fall to the interface.
